Soft skills are the interpersonal and professional behaviors that shape how practitioners engage with clients, families, colleagues, and supervisees. They are increasingly recognised as an essential component of effective and ethical behavior-analytic practice. While the BACB task list and Supervisor Training Curriculum now explicitly require supervisors to teach and evaluate these skills, the behavior-analytic literature has only recently begun to examine what soft skills are, how they are currently being taught, and what training approaches are most effective. This bundle draws on contemporary behavior-analytic literature to introduce soft skills in the context of supervision, examining how these skills are defined and operationalized within the field, what the current evidence says about how proficiently trainees demonstrate them, and how supervisors can use structured approaches such as behavioral skills training to systematically teach and evaluate a range of competencies including compassionate care, cultural responsiveness, and professional conduct.
